When submitting your application for dental school do you need all of your letters finished by the day you apply? How does letter submission work for the dat? I understand I never see the letters but I dont understand how would I submit them or attach them to my application or is there a link I give to my schools committee and other people I have writing a letter? If there is a link and they submit it on their own time, if I apply the first week the cycle opens for submissions then when should I notify my mentors and schools committee to finish and submit their letters by? Should it be the same week I apply?

Here is an answer from @justinhodentistry on our Facebook Group. We couldn't have explained it any better! :) "Hi Mark! I’m a D1 at UMN. For letter submissions, you will have to have all four letters uploaded. You can invite people who will be writing on your behalf by filling in their email to request an evaluation on the AADSAS portal. The website will automatically send a link to the person who will write for you and direct them on how to upload their letter. If they have the letter already written, they can also submit onto Interfolio, which is a website that will store it until needed (you cannot see the letter from this website to avoid potential bias).
You should notify people who will write on your behalf ASAP so they have enough time to write a strong letter for you. The AADSAS portal will show if the person has received the invite and when they complete their upload.
Letters can be uploaded on the soft open date for applications in early May and if you want to submit right when the application opens, you should have all four letters uploaded by the end of May. Letters can be uploaded anytime until the school deadline but they CANNOT be removed through the portal so choose wisely who you would like to write your letters for you. Hope this helped!"
Hope this helps!
